Chef Lee Chizmar and Erin Shea, the duo who brought true “farm-to-table” cuisine to the Lehigh Valley with their lauded restaurant, Bolete, are excited to bring their newest concept, Silvershell Counter + Kitchen. The New England-style clam shack and seafood market at EPM is across from their ramen shop, Mister Lee’s Noodles.
Shea—a native New Englander who relocated to the Lehigh Valley over a decade ago with her husband and business partner—grew up two miles from Silvershell Beach in Marion, Mass. She spent her summers splashing in the ocean and eating her fill of fried clams and steamers. Shea and Chizmar originally met while working at a restaurant in Boston and share a love for the quintessential cuisine of the Northeast. “Silvershell will be the perfect spot to stop for a quick cup of chowder, or pick up fresh fish, clams or lobster to take home and prepare, “says Shea.
Chizmar, a previous James Beard Award-semifinalist, has created a menu reminiscent of a classic clam shack, while also elevating the offerings to take advantage of his relationships with Lehigh Valley farmers and top-notch seafood purveyors on the coast. Menu items available at “the counter” for those on-the-go, will include a rotating selection of fresh fish, shellfish, soups as well as prepared meals to take home. The kitchen will focus on classic New England clam shack fare such as lobster rolls, fried clams, stuffed quahhogs, steamers and freshly shucked oysters with signature housemade sauces.
