  • Carlos Barata: Alternative / Soulful Serenades

    Carlos is a 27 year old, solo singer-songwriter and performer from Southside Bethlehem, PA. Soulful vocals paired with accessible songwriting make his alternative style something sweet and special.

    Carlos debuted his first album “Believe” in 2009, followed by his second “This State We?re In” in 2011. In 2015 Carlos released his first self-titled album. Carlos has shared the stage with local musicians and international touring artists such as Matt & Kim, Dispatch, Matt Costa, and more.

    Carlos is working on new music, scheduling more shows, and studying to become a Board Certified Music Therapist. Carlos is grateful for the support of his parents, his partner Christa, as well as family, friends, and people that constantly inspire him.

    Julianna Sweeney is a 20 year old singer/songwriter from a small town in New Jersey.  Her style has been noted to sound like Joni Mitchell, Fiona Apple, and Coldplay.

    Julianna has written over 250 songs both for herself as well as other artists. In a generation of music produced to catch only the radio friendly ear, she hopes to pull the listener deeper with an emphasis on lyrics and meaning within each song. ​

    The Easton Hunger Coalition hosts the free public “Morning Conversation on FOOD” series at the Community Room inside the Easton Public Market on the third Wednesday of each month at 9 am.

    Participants explore such topics as food, local food systems, food justice, food waste, food recovery, and hunger. Moderators provide information to guide the topic, as well as action items that can be taken to support the reduction of food waste in our community. Grab a coffee and join the conversation.

    January 2020 Topic:  Where does your meat come from?  Learn about CAFO’s vs. pastured-raised meats.

    Join author Carrie Havranek and five local chefs at the Easton Public Market to celebrate the publication of Carrie’s just-released cookbook, Tasting Pennsylvania. The book features many of the Lehigh Valley’s favorite chefs and lots of fresh, seasonal recipes — an interesting read that you can translate into tasty dishes for your dining table.

    During this special evening, you will enjoy a delicious 5-course meal inspired by Tasting Pennsylvania with beer pairings from ShawneeCraft Brewing Co., a copy of the book signed by Carrie and the participating chefs, great conversation and general food-related facts and fun.

    Each course will be prepared by a local chef featured in the cookbook:

    At first glance, Erin Kelly projects a humbled presence that quickly transforms the moment she steps behind a microphone. Her skilled guitar playing and powerhouse vocals define her country/rock roots. From an early age, Erin has been no stranger to large audiences. She started performing the National Anthem in public at the age of three. By the age of six, she had the opportunity to perform a National Anthem for the Philadelphia 76ers. Since then, she has performed for many major and minor league teams from the NBA to the MLB. Her years of performing the Anthem gave her the privilege to perform for General Colin Powell and President George W. Bush.

  • Dave Fry – Folk / Americana

    Dave Fry’s concerts feature both traditional and contemporary folk music, spliced together with guitar, mandolin, banjo, wry and spontaneous commentary on American family life, and plenty of participation on everyone’s part. Dave Fry is unique in his ability to entertain all ages, and he builds a sense of community everywhere he performs.

    Dave has been a featured performer at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, Falcon Ridge Folk and Winterhawk Bluegrass festivals, all of Bethlehem’s Musikfests, and has toured Mexico and Germany as well. He has even played the White House lawn. He continues to perform at folk clubs, schools, festivals, preschools and elder-care facilities, and delights in sharing live and lively music.

In this class you’ll learn about your microbiome and how fermented food can enhance microbial diversity.   • From Milk to Curd: Cheesemaking with Valley Milkhouse – SOLD OUT!

    Join Stefanie Angstadt, owner and cheesemaker of Valley Milkhouse Creamery, for a workshop dedicated to all things cheese! This 2-hour event includes a crash course in cheesemaking theory, a stove top demonstration on fresh ricotta making, and an evaluative cheese tasting with Valley Milkhouse cheeses. For people interested in making cheese at home or for those who are curious about the fascinating art and science behind the process, this class offers the chance to learn everything you always wanted to know about cheese.

    The heart of the class is the demonstration which teaches participants how to make a simple ricotta “basket” style cheese using only a stock pot, vinegar, a stovetop and cheesecloth. The recipe translates to any home kitchen and the fresh, sweet curds are sure to please even the pickiest palette. Participants will leave with a sample of the fresh curd made in class.

    The class concludes with a cheese tasting of three award-winning Valley Milkhouse cheeses and a selection of wine from Tolino Vineyards. Stefanie will talk about the process that went into producing each cheese and discuss tasting notes and wine pairing suggestions.

    Hannah Violet, a native Berks County Folk/Country/Rock singer, musician and songwriter has become a successful solo performer, studio musician and band-leader, in addition to a career as a Hospice Board-Certified Music Therapist. Hannah has sung, played guitar and fiddle through out Nashville Tennessee, Pennsylvania and surrounding states. She has made a positive name for herself with her passion, range of style, professionalism, talent, and has lead the “Hannah Violet Trio” for 6 years. Hannah released a CD of 14 original
    tracks, and a music video shot in Las Vegas in 2015 titled “Violet Sky.”
